BUSN 4950: Introduction to Investment Services Industry and Opportunities

This class will provide an introduction to the investment services industry including career tracks and how they map to the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam. The course will give an overview of capital markets, products and their risks, understand trading and the regulatory framework. SIE exam preparation will also be covered and supported in this course.

BUSN 4950 classes will be hosted through remote learning on three Fridays for the spring 2020 semester:

• April 3
• April 10
• April 17

Vouchers that pay for the SIE exam fees will be given to all students who successfully completed the course.

Funding for these scholarships is provided by the Colorado Investment Services Coalition. Upon completion, you will receive a voucher for the SIE exam.

Yosef Bonaparte, PhD, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 with his dissertation "Essays in Dynamic Household Finance with Heterogeneous Agents." His main research interest is in portfolio choice and asset pricing. In particular, he examines how political climate and political affiliation influence portfolio choice and the stock market in general.
