Peter O’Neill, CFA, is Director of Risk Analytics for ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) Company, working in the North American Oilseeds and Ag Services trading and marketing group where he is responsible for risk analysis and modeling, portfolio construction, algorithmic trading model development, and structuring.
Prior to working at Archer Daniels Midland, E.ON, Peter was Chief Risk Officer and Head of Finance (CFO) for E.ON Global Commodities North America which became Uniper Global Commodities North America as part of a global E.ON reorganization. As CRO and CFO, he was responsible for implementing risk management strategy, structuring and valuation, and for overseeing the controls for the North American Gas and Power trading functions. In addition to the risk management responsibilities, he oversaw financial reporting and accounting, billing and settlements, treasury, tax, insurance, working capital management, and budgeting and forecasting.
Before joining E.ON, Peter was BG Group's Vice President of Global Energy Marketing and Trading Risk Management where he oversaw the risk management department for the LNG, Gas, and Power trading functions for BG’s $2 billion Energy Marketing business. Included in his organization were the credit, risk and quantitative groups. Mr. O’Neill joined BG having previously been employed, from 2001 - 2007, by BP. Peter held a number of risk roles within the company, covering a wide range of commodities, as well as helping set up the energy marketing arm of the Moscow based TNK-BP joint venture.
Peter received his M.B.A. in Finance from the AB Freeman School of Business, Tulane University in New Orleans, and received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He sits on the board of the DePaul University, Arditti Center for Risk Management and is a member of the Energy Oversight Committee for the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).
