Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to provide students high content briefings from private sector companies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations that are leaders in international energy. In addition, for students who might want to work overseas or learn how to do energy related business overseas, this course could be very beneficial to finding employment.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of the course, students should be able to explain the technical and market context of renewable energy as well as electricity technology operations, economics, and characteristics.
  • Develop a renewable business case to enable and make informed decisions about renewable generation investment, renewable energy procurement, and (renewable) energy service business operations.
  • Describe electricity markets as well as the state, regional, and federal electricity industry regulation and its impact on renewable energy businesses.
  • Create winning renewable energy business strategies and confidently implement them in complex business situations often requiring cross-functional trade-offs.
