Project Development, Management and Leadership in Renewable Energy

Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to provide students high content briefings from private sector companies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations that are leaders in international energy. In addition, for students who might want to work overseas or learn how to do energy related business overseas, this course could be very beneficial to finding employment.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of the course, students should be able to explain the technical and market context of renewable energy as well as electricity technology operations, economics, and characteristics.
  • Develop a renewable business case to enable and make informed decisions about renewable generation investment, renewable energy procurement, and (renewable) energy service business operations.
  • Describe electricity markets as well as the state, regional, and federal electricity industry regulation and its impact on renewable energy businesses.
  • Create winning renewable energy business strategies and confidently implement them in complex business situations often requiring cross-functional trade-offs.

 

This course is ideal for professionals from all sectors who seek more comprehensive knowledge about carbon markets and want to gain tangible business acumen related to that knowledge.

Jenny Bredt

Jennifer Bredt, MS

Director of Operational Excellence at Renewable Energy Systems (RES)

Jenny Bredt is a renewable energy professional with over 16 years of experience in the industry. She has held positions in government, consultancy, and private companies all focused on the development of renewable energy projects both domestically and abroad. Ms. Bredt’s experience covers the value stream of renewables from greenfield development through construction. Notable projects have included: wind, solar, and biomass resource assessments on tribal lands (across the US), Masdar (Abu Dhabi), Granite Wind (CA), Keechi Wind (TX), Deerfield Wind (MI), Skookumchuck Wind (WA), Battery Utility of Ohio (OH) and Moapa Solar (NV). Ms. Bredt has built upon her project management skillset and advanced into organizational leadership roles focused on business transformation and strategy; change management and continuous improvement; interdisciplinary team, project, and business unit efficiencies.

Jenny is currently the Director of Operational Excellence at Renewable Energy Systems (RES), the world’s largest independent renewable energy company. RES has an 18GW global portfolio of development, construction, and operational projects. Jenny is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Global Energy Management program at the University of Colorado, Denver.

Ms. Bredt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geological Sciences and a minor in French from the University of Colorado, Boulder. A graduate certificate in Geographical Information Systems from the University of Colorado Denver and a Master of Science in Global Energy Management also from the University of Colorado Denver.
