Merrily “Missy” Kautt has been teaching for the international business program since 1997. Her teaching areas include international business consulting, international business negotiations, and introduction to international business. Currently she is a member of CU Denver's Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) management team and serves as a faculty advisor to the International Business Student Network (IBSN) program.

Previously she helped establish CU Denver's Global Energy Management's MS program at the request of regional and international energy companies, served as past chair and is a current member of the GEM business advisory council. She actively consults to multinational giants as well as small, start-up companies globally and locally, and is an appointee of Governor John Hickenlooper as a Colorado ambassador to Japan. She is a former ExxonMobil executive, and attended Harvard University’s ExxonMobil-Harvard executive management training program, and subsequently served as Colorado Governor Roy Romer’s senior trade representative. She is a founding director of the World Trade Center Denver and current board member, a long-time trustee of the Japan America Society of Colorado, and a director at Solix Technologies, Inc., Santa Clara, CA.

In 2016 Kautt was presented with the Business School’s prestigious Laube Faculty Service Award. She has been a guest lecturer at global universities including University of South Africa, Tokyo University, Nankai University – China, Sripatum University and Chulalongkorn University – Bangkok, and has consulted to global corporations including Shell Oil Nigeria, Dow Corning (Japan), Pratt & Whitney (Bangkok), General Motors Parts Division (South Africa), SC Johnson Wax (Mexico), Grupo Cemex and Grupo Pemex (Mexico), Hewlett Packard (Mexico), LG/Lucky Goldstar (South Korea).
