Michael Mannino teaches and conducts research in management of information technology, business intelligence, database management, and public employee pensions. His articles have appeared in major journals affiliated with the ACM, IEEE, and TIMS and Elsevier. He is the author of the textbook, Database Design, Application Development, and Administration, seventh edition, published by the Chicago Business Press.

His professional experience includes working as a consultant for Unify Corporation, a systems programmer for Computer Automation, and an analyst-programmer for the Regional Computer Center. Previously, he was a faculty member in the Computer and Information Sciences Department at the University of Florida, the Department of Management Science and Information Systems at the University of Texas at Austin, and the Management Science Department at the University of Washington.
