Risk Management and Resilience Certificate

This certificate is designed to introduce students to the concepts of risks, hazards, exposure, and resilience. Students will learn how to successfully manage and lead a company through periods of volatility, complexity, uncertainty, and ambiguity typical of many sustainability and environmental challenges. This is a hybrid program, with courses on-campus and online. However, it can be completed 100% online.

Curriculum

To earn the Certificate, you will need to complete three graduate courses of three credit hours each for a total of 9 credit hours. In addition to the course options below, you may finish the Certificate by completing a significant risk management and resilience-related internship (e.g., designing a risk management strategy for a business), independent study (e.g., designing a risk management strategy at your place of work), or study abroad program.

Take the required SUSB 6309 Strategic Risk Management course, and then choose two additional risk management and resilience-related courses. Past course topics include:

  • Leading organizational change
  • Practical enterprise risk management
  • Global risk management
  • Global enterprise sustainability and resilience
  • Disaster/Climate change planning

Flexibility to apply to a future MS degree. The Risk Management and Resilience Certificate can be stacked or combined with the Foundations of Sustainable Business Certificate and one additional Certificate from the list below to earn the Master of Science in Sustainable Business if you choose to later apply to the entire MS program.
