Back in the early 2000s, nonprofit leaders weren’t known for getting MBAs. When Heather stepped into her first day in business school, she thought she might feel a little out of place.
That feeling changed during a class discussion about attracting and retaining employees. Heather brought in her personal experience to explain how she found success in creating a sense of mission and a healthy culture, a big lesson that the business world was just beginning to pick up on.
Since graduating, Heather applied the skills she gained at CU Denver to successfully lead a complex organization, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, into one of the largest residential builders in Denver.
