Andrey Mikhailitchenko holds an international educational background, having earned an undergraduate degree in International Economy and Chinese Language from Moscow State University, a degree in Chinese Language from Beijing Foreign Studies University, an MBA from Syracuse University, and a DBA from Cleveland State University. Prior to entering academia, Andrey gained valuable managerial experience in international business and global supply chain management. The company he managed operated in diverse regional markets, including the U.S., China, and Russia. Fluent in Chinese, Andrey accumulated multidimensional global practical experience, including business negotiations with international partners, cross-cultural marketing, and managing personnel from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Since joining academia in 2009, Andrey has held various faculty and administrative positions at California State University, Sacramento College of Business until 2023. His faculty positions have included Assistant Professor from 2009 to 2015, Associate Professor from 2015 to 2019, and Professor since 2019. He has served in administrative roles such as Program Director of the International MBA Program, Director of the Center for Small Business, Department Chair of Marketing & Supply Chain Management, and Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
Andrey has taught a range of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the U.S. and abroad. This includes Executive MBA, International MBA, MBA in Singapore, and courses in institutions in China and Russia. The classes he has taught cover topics such as Multinational Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Cross-Cultural Advertising, Marketing Management, Strategic Marketing, Healthcare Marketing, Global Supply Chain Management, Competing in the Global Marketplace, Contemporary Marketing Function and Practice, Global Marketing Management, Brand and Product Management, and Marketing Research. Leveraging his real-world business background, Andrey is able to provide practical insights and examples in the classroom.
His academic research has been published in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Affairs, Health Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Food Products Marketing, Advances in Consumer Research, Journal of East-West Business, Research in Consumer Behavior, Leadership and Organization Development Journal, International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship, among others. Additionally, he has co-authored the internationally published textbook, "Essentials of Pharmacy Management."
Andrey has also contributed his expertise through numerous consulting projects in international trade, textiles, and the medical industry. His portfolio includes consulting projects for the California State Treasurer's Office, California Department of Transportation, California Department of Insurance, City of Sacramento, as well as various public and private entities. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for California Northstate University and Chair of this Board's Financial Committee. Andrey's contributions have been recognized with awards, including Sacramento State's Outstanding Scholarly and Creative Activity Award and Outstanding Community Service Award.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Andrey finds joy in being a proud father of a son and a daughter, as well as a grandfather to six grandchildren (so far).
