This four-week online certificate course is for new hires on the trading desk, risk managers, analysts & senior management. The course offers a complete perspective on institutional commodity trading. Learn how professional traders distill information into an actionable perspective on the future of price, then select the optimal strategy to express that view of the market. 

The Masterclass in Commodity Trading & Hedging will be graded on a pass/fail basis. To achieve a passing grade a student will be required to attend or watch the eight lectures and complete the case study project. 

The course starts Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

This is a 100% online course, with live synchronous sessions during the four-week term. Zoom links to attend the live video lectures can be found in Canvas (instructions on how to access below).

Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged as the lectures are focused on engagement between the instructor and students. Lectures will be recorded and posted to Canvas for those who can not attend live.

All course materials for the class will be located in Canvas, the learning management system used for online courses at CU Denver. Before the start of the course, please make sure you can log into Canvas – instructions are below:

  • You must be registered for the class before you can log into Canvas
  • Go to the Canvas login page at https://ucdenver.instructure.com/login
  • Your username and password are the same as your UCDAccess account (where you registered for classes). If you have forgotten please call the help desk (303-724-4357) and have your student ID ready. If you need your student ID, please contact Michele Cooper (michele.cooper@ucdenver.edu). 

You will pay your tuition invoice through UCDAccess. You can find instructions on how to access your tuition invoice and pay your bill here: Tuition Invoice Instructions. If you have any questions, please contact the CU Denver Bursar’s office at 303-315-1800 or Bursar@ucdenver.edu. The Bursar’s office handles all tuition payments.

If your company will be paying for the course, you will need to go through the university's Third Party Billing department. Please click here for next steps to start the third-party billing process. 

Students receive 12 CPE credits for this course. A certificate will be emailed two weeks after course completion, along with a digital badge.
