The Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Minor teaches you how to analyze risks in your chosen profession. Learn to develop expertise in analyzing risk dimensions and creating strategies to manage these risks. The RMI industry is incredibly diverse and hires talented individuals from nearly every major. The minor pairs particularly well with mathematics, economics, engineering, humanities, and many others.
Curriculum (18 - 24 hours)
To complete the minor, you will need to have completed six prerequisites in math, business analytics, economics, and accounting. You will then take six courses in risk management and finance. Course topics include:
- Principles of finance
- Global risk management
- Strategic risk management
- Corporate risk management
- Property & casualty insurance

Requirements
You must be an undergraduate CU Denver student with at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA and a 2.00 cumulative GPA in the Risk Management and Insurance Minor to receive the minor. Up to 6 of the 18 hours required for the minor may be completed at another institution. If you’ve already taken the equivalent of one or more of these courses at another university, other high-level business courses may be substituted with the approval of the Business School.
