Dr. Jiban Khuntia is a Professor and Discipline Director of Information Systems at the University of Colorado Denver Business School. His research examines how organizations use artificial intelligence, information systems, data, and digital technologies to improve strategy, decision-making, operations, and organizational performance. He has applied his research to health and sustainability areas.
His research has appeared in leading journals including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, and the European Journal of Information Systems. He has authored books on artificial intelligence, digital strategy, and health AI/IT and developed the AI for Health Systems MOOC on Coursera.
Dr. Khuntia has held academic leadership roles at CU Denver, including directing the Computer Science and Information Systems PhD Program and serving as the founding director of the Health Administration Research Consortium (HARC). Before entering academia, he spent approximately 15 years in technology research and development, including roles as an R&D engineer, supercomputer designer, and national coordinator for an R&D organization. He has also consulted with private-sector, government, and international organizations.
