Students will hear from leading business and healthcare professionals, from small to multinational corporations, to gain firsthand insights into the challenges and opportunities in Latin America’s health sector. Key topics include the import and export of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and other health-related products, public and private health care models, and emerging technologies in the industry as they relate to Latin America. Throughout the program, cultural experiences and business discussions will provide a deeper understanding of how social, economic, and political factors influence health care delivery.

The primary goal of this study abroad program is to examine entrepreneurship in Colombia's emerging market. Based on historical conflict, political ideology, social class, and the impact of the ‘Narco Era,' entrepreneurship has taken on very different forms in Colombia compared to what we know in the USA. While abroad, students will visit a cross-section of entrepreneurs in Bogota and Medellin, two of Colombia’s largest and busiest cities. Visits will include interactions with fashion entrepreneurs, tech startups, artisans, and participants in Colombia’s famous coffee industry, among others. To complement the program's entrepreneurial focus, students will also learn about history, art, music, religion, food, and other cultural aspects of Colombian life, making it a true cultural immersion experience!

This program will introduce you to European sustainable business challenges by engaging with companies throughout Madrid (Spain) and Strasbourg (France). You will be able to hear from local businesses, government, and European community leaders collaborating to find innovative solutions to environmental and societal challenges; learn cutting-edge actions the business community can take to reduce environmental risks and gain a competitive advantage; and gain knowledge about the current theory and practice of sustainable business and strategic risk management. The interdisciplinary team course culminates in developing a client-facing business challenge.

Course content is intentionally interdisciplinary, spanning international business, economics, cultural studies, and political context. Students explore how national institutions, cultural norms, and historical developments shape Germany's and the Czech Republic's business environments today. Through comparative analysis, participants evaluate differences in economic systems, organizational practices, and market dynamics between the two countries, gaining insight into how these factors influence global competitiveness and collaboration within the European Union. Industry-focused executive peer briefings further deepen subject matter expertise, requiring students to research and present on key sectors, competitive landscapes, and companies they will encounter during the program.

Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States offer three contrasting models of the same underlying technology. Japan's adoption is culture-led and enterprise-embedded, shaped by an aging workforce and a tradition of human-machine collaboration. Students will see this directly through a visit to Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City, where AI is integrated into health, mobility, and urban planning as part of a society-wide response to demographic change. Hong Kong's adoption is policy-driven, where regulation and market structure shape how the same technologies are deployed. Students will see this directly through company visits in Hong Kong's AI sector and a U.S. Consulate briefing on the policy environment. The United States is the most market-driven of the three, paced by competitive pressure, customer demand, and capital allocation, with public debate focused on job displacement and the environmental cost of large-scale computing. Students bring this American context with them as the implicit third case in every visit.

This is a unique international course of intensive study for undergraduate and graduate business and risk management students and serves as a distinctive immersion in the field of global risk management and insurance. In the first two weeks of class in Denver, you'll participate in a series of class lectures, presentations, and discussions. Then, you will travel to London, home to many of the world's largest insurers and reinsurers. Follow the insurance transaction from main street USA through the standard markets, surplus lines markets, and reinsurance markets.
