Mentor Resources

Academic & Program Support

  • Learning Resource Center: Tutoring, study skills, time management workshops, etc. Schedule an appointment with a staff member

  • Writing Center: One-on-one support for any type of writing: class assignments, scholarship applications, petition letters, employment materials, personal writing, etc. Students must attend three 50-minute sessions to satisfy the Academic Success Packet requirement. Students not currently enrolled in coursework may work on writing from previous semesters or other relevant documents. Appointments are available both in-person and live online at locations across the greater Denver area. Appointments can be scheduled online.

  • Lynx Central: Lynx Central is a general site with a lot of great resources and information for all students that are offered across campus- from academic/ professional support and resources to emergency resources.

  • Involvement Calculator on MyLynx: After completing a short questionnaire, a Student Involvement Ambassador will identify opportunities and reach out to students.

Experiental Learning & Engagement

  • Business Career Center (BCC): Offers career coaching, networking, job opportunities, and professional development training to all students and alumni for life. BCC also provides a suite of tools and resources to help you in your job search, no matter your experience or expertise. The goal is to give you the tools and resources to navigate your career.

  • Lynx Connect:​Need help connecting what you're studying to your future goals? LynxConnect is your one-stop-shop for enhancing your student experience, expanding your global perspective, researching your world, discovering internships, finding campus employment, and exploring your career options.

  • Experiential Learning Center (ELC): The ELC is designed to help students develop knowledge, skills, and career readiness competencies from direct experiences outside of the classroom. We are here to help students pursue their educational goals by providing internships and professional development opportunities. The ELC is eager to assist students, academic departments, and employers in reaching their experiential learning goals.

  • Student Life & Campus Community: Includes Student Clubs, Student Government, Student Newspaper, Housing, Health Insurance, etc. They provide many programs to give students the opportunity to learn and collaborate beyond the classroom. They can help students run for office, write for the student newspaper, discover leadership skills, create own student organization or join an existing one.

  • Business School Student Clubs: All Business School Student Clubs in one place.

  • Handshake: Jobs and internships on and off-campus (requires student login).

Identity Groups & Wellness

  • Center for Identity & Inclusion (CII): Also known as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. CII provides services: to support underrepresented students and promote a diverse and inclusive campus for all students, faculty, and staff. CU Denver's CII consists of:

  • Counseling Center: Offers students 10 free sessions (individual, couples or family) and access to additional free workshops. Walk-in crisis counseling available.

  • Disability Resources & Services: Envisions an educational environment that is inclusive and embodies the equality of opportunity while being dedicated to the full participation of students with disabilities in the university environment. In addition, they will work to coordinate reasonable accommodations to provide students equal access to the university’s programs, activities, and services.

  • LGBTQ Student Resource Center: Provides a resource for those experiencing issues with sexuality, gender identity, and discrimination or harassment, a community for all. Business hours are Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m

  • The Resources for Immigrants Students and English Language (RISE): An academic and social support program that has a goal to support immigrant and English Language Learners (ELL) at CU Denver by providing them with one-on-one meetings in which they can talk about their academic needs. RISE Peer Mentors connect students on and off-campus resources, and facilitate workshops and presentations focused on the needs of Immigrant and ELL students.

  • Office of Equity: Responds to matters related to sexual misconduct and protected class discrimination both on and off-campus, with the goal of preventing, and/or ending these issues on campus. The office is to stop, prevent, and remedy discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and any related retaliation; provide education, training and outreach; design policies and procedures to make our campus safer and more inclusive; and ensure all individuals are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

  • Phoenix Center at Auraria ​(PCA): Provides free and confidential resources and assistance to survivors of interpersonal violence (relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking), as well as their friends, families, and concerned others. The support services include academic advocacy, assistance reporting to the school and/or law enforcement at the survivor’s request, safety planning, court accompaniment, emotional support, and more.

  • Peer Advocate Leaders ​(PALs): Provide one on one mentoring by student peers who are specifically trained to support probation/suspension students. The PALs focus on holistic academics to help students navigate the probation/suspension process (understanding the policies, guiding students through the Academic Success Plan process, clarifying timelines and deadlines, etc.).

  • Veteran & Military Student Services (VMSS): Supports veteran, active duty, reservist, national guard and dependent students.

  • Office of Case Management: Fosters student growth, development, and success by assisting students dealing with areas related to mental health, emotional well-being, and safety by providing outreach, resources, referrals, advocacy, and follow up services. In addition to supporting students, they are also available to consult with faculty, staff, parents, and concerned others any time they are worried about a student's behavior.

  • Wellness Center Resources: Includes a single stop for the Salazar Student Wellness Center, Swimming Pool & Spa, Climbing Wall, the Wellness Suite, and the Food Pantry. The Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center features three levels of unique and flexible spaces. From a spa to study rooms, and gym courts to a patio, this 85,000-square-foot center gives you places to exercise, socialize, study or relax.

  • CU Denver Food Pantry: A direct response to the need of the CU Denver student body for more resources to fight food insecurity and the lack of nutritious food. All CU Denver studentes have access to the food pantry.

  • Single Stop at CU Denver: Connects students to local community and governmental resources (e.g. SNAP and Medicaid) that can help them overcome barriers to basic needs. Single Stop has a free online screening tool that can estimate in minutes what supplemental resources students might be eligible to receive. The staff supports students in accessing and navigating these resources, including individualized application assistance for public benefits.

  • You | CU Denver: A portal that all students have access to (using their single sign on). It helps students reflect on their mental and physical health and the importance of wellbeing. It also links to a ton of different resource both in and outside of CU Denver.

  • CARE (Campus Assessment, Response & Evaluation) Team:This team created to help you navigate a wide variety of life’s challenges. We help students create plans to confront difficulties while providing support and resources to keep you safe and successful. If you're facing challenges or know someone who is, we encourage you to submit at CARE report to connect with our friendly and compassionate team. Together we can help you get through difficult times and get back on track.

  • Business School Current Student Resources: Find all the essential resources for current Business School Students, such as; Advising (grad and undergrad), the Student Newsletter, FaM, University Calendar, Student Clubs, Study Abroad Courses, Scholarships, Student Jobs on Campus, financial Aid, Writing Center, and Zoom Backgrounds for Class.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A place where you can report acts of discrimination, share student concerns, find external resources, and find mental health resources.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

  • Office of Financial Aid: Financial Aid programs, grants, loans, scholarships, student eligibility requirements.

  • Work-study: A financial aid award that allows undergraduate and graduate students to work part-time to earn money to pay for educational expenses

  • Scholarship Resource Office: Provides information about scholarships and offers guidance in the scholarship application process, such as how to search for a scholarship, how to write an effective essay and how to create a scholarship application tracking calendar.

  • The Colorado Opportunity Fund (COF): Was created by the Colorado Legislature, provides a stipend to eligible undergraduate students. The stipend pays a portion of your total in-state tuition when you attend a participating college. Eligible undergraduate students must apply, be admitted and enroll in classes at a participating college to receive this benefit. Both new and continuing students are eligible for the stipend.

  • Financial Wellness: An on-going process and combination of increasing awareness of your current financial state, strengthening your knowledge of Financial Literacy, making well-informed decisions, and taking intentional and mindful steps towards achieving a healthy financial well-being.

  • Loving Lynx: An emergency funding resource available to CU Denver students dealing with unanticipated events including accidents, medical or dental emergencies, natural disasters, or a need for temporary housing.

  • J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities: The J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities at the University of Colorado Denver Business School is the first center of its kind focused on a broad range of commodities, including agriculture, energy, and mining. Established in 2012, this innovative center provides educational programs and research in commodities markets, regulation, trading, financial fundamentals, investing, risk management, and ethics.
